Learn to Fly 3d RC Helicopters

Why do I say this? Well my minip was feeling down on power over the past couple of weeks. It wasnt untill it flew into a tree (low hanging branch stole my vision) and i had change some bits. Well the power lead had only half of the wires terminated. The other half were broken due to constant bending (ie connecting and disconnecting the battery) After stripping back the wire and soldering on a new plug, it is like a new heli again!
So often i solder EC5 plugs and find it very difficult to create excellent joints because positioning the wire and plug while soldering is just about impossible. Well my son brought me the best Christmas present which I had to use today due to necessity. It makes soldering big plugs and terminations an absolute breeze. I introduce to you - the THIRD HAND! (thats not its real name, i have just dubbed it that) . With the two alligator clips, you can position the wire and the plug in perfect position while using the magnifying glass to make sure your solder joint is perfecto. It...
My weekend is about to start with a helicopter build, but it is not my own helicopter. A friend of mine purchased a TSA 600E Pro kit at OHB, and wants me to assist in the build, setup, and maiden flight. So today we get started. He`s going to meet me at my home flying field at 08:30, where we will occupy the pilot`s lounge while we build/set up his helicopter. Then over to the flight line to give it a test flight before I turn it over to him. He has lots of flight experience, but has never build a complete kit. So this should be an exciting day for him.

Tomorrow, I will be traveling over...
Interesting question... for me its the never ending amount of tricks. No matter how good you are there is allways room to improve and do more stuff. So why did you get hooked on helicopters?
Why are there different angled swash plates? IE some are at 12o and others at 140? why and what is the advantage? I have heard that 140 degrees is much more accurate but most people use 12o. Why is this so?

Okay just opinions on this one. How many people thing a big heli is better to learn on and why. I personally think smaller helis are better because of the danger factor - but then again a smaller heli can lead to complacency. So what do you rekon? Big or Small?
Well its that time of year again and it comes around so soon. I hope you stay truly safe and have the best Christmas ever.
