    Hi guys

Can a heli start wobbling in higher speed flights when you overtighten the main blades?

    Thanks.

That would impede the lead/lag of the main blades a bit.

It depends. if i am flying hard i have learnt the hard way to make sure the blades are done up tight. Usually i have found on 450size and above its not an issue. But there is a limit of course. If you cant move the bladein the blade holder then that is too tight. If my blade is moving freely in the head then its very easy to boom strike if you are doing hard piroflips or high speed wall manouvers.

If you have something that is out of whack in your head, then tightening the blades will make it more visible - if the blades are looser there is a bit of play and it wont be so obvious.

So i suggest for flying, tight - but not too tight. If your head is wobbling something is wrong...

Most times I see head wobble, its servo jitter or too much cyclic gain.

I run my blades pretty tight too. What I do on the first flight of the day, is loosen the blades just enough to be able to move with a little effort. Then I take the helicopter to the flight line, bring it into a hover and then land. Let it spool down on its own, and then re-tighten the blade bolts. You`re good to good all day. I have never had my helicopters wobble on spool up using this method.

Very clever @Geena! a great way to make sure the blades are centered.

Thank you guys for all the answers!

On Wednesday I was flying with Hugo Markes from Switzerland. He is an official dealer and pro pilot. He won the speed competition in IRCHA last weekend. I wanted him to check my 600N and tune in the engine. First thing he said - "your blades are to loose!" and tightened them damn hard. Since then the heli started wobbling in speed flights. I loosened them a bit today and its better. Going down with the swash gain didnt do anything. Wierd. How could he do that and say its the wind..? Maybe he wanted my new baby to break apart in the air so he can sell me some parts..

Or he is just a friend of @Crash Heligod ??? +++

I think Align helis need a little bit of play everywhere. Thats the way they work the best LoL! You know the math = minus x minus = plus!!

Yes @iggy, Hugo, Tareq and I are all good friends! Tareq makes everyone think they can fly like him .... and they crash! Hugo makes sure that everyone over-tightens their blades! Yes we make a terrific team!
