Mini Protos Re-born

    ok... as most of you know I was a big fan of the Mini Protos.. and I loved it to bits on 3s... and then I went "MORE POWER!!!!!" seeing @smakmeharder and @The Dude smacktakular Mini's in the air...

    so I went and stretched it, put a scorpion 1360 in, 6s, bucket load of lynx upgrades, tail case, boom supports, boom clamp... and the result.. not happy with it.. Just didnt seem to have the go, and the stock pinions at the teeth count I needed (13/14) were like paper and it would crack on the first flight...

    so with a bit of regret it became a shelf queen. I had lots of larger heli's to fly, and they flew awesome... and I lost interest in the Mini.. It had been nothing but trouble, and I know it was my fault as I played with a working heli, that was flying well.

    then Lynx released the solid pinion set, which included a 13t pinion.. pair that with a new belt and...

    BAM!

    she's back... with the right gearing its a little monster... wind what wind.. it laughs in the face of that wind on the weekend. It just goes... I have never done super aggressive rainbows or negative punch outs.. but did it on the weekend, and it just takes it.... And now its in the efficiency range of the motor, I am flying more aggressive, higher headspeeds, longer flight times and coming down with more in the pack. Just goes to show how important gearing is.

    I had forgotten how twitchy is was.. which is great, as it will help neaten things up.. all in all, its back more bad ass than ever...

    This little bad boy is back in the standard flying lineup!

      Hi Manyc where did you order the solid pinion from? Can't seem to find any Australian retailer (yet).

      From lynx direct... if you get round the $100 Mark I think you get free shippage... and the tail case set it worth it

      Hey @legoantstar you wont regret it i can promise@ totally transforms the heli... It turns a good 450 into a super accurate super light ninja

      Nope... gone... more touble than they were worth.. tho i believe MSH are working on a steel version that should prove better... will see..

      I still find the heli sort of autos without the OWB. Infact i cant notice any difference, only more power and less maintenance...

      My friend has a solid pinion in his minip - he loves it and says it is much more powerful.

      Thanks.. but I have one spare... but I always like to have a few of them as they are always going to bend...

      Not sure what's going on with ARK and msh but it and to be on the back burner for them.

      I think you will find that they order stock in lots.... Either that or may are slow.

      It's been nearly 6 months since I've seen that part in stock... and I look every now then...

      I'm at the point I order spare parts from over seas

      It's the only reason i have the mini protos as a backup now and the 450L as the main beater. Can get align parts from anywhere!!
      Also only have 1 feathering shaft backup for the protos.

      It's true enough re mini protos though you can get parts os .... this issue may change very soon.

      Well there are many aftermarket parts being made for the minip. Just maybe they might be making a new head with feather shaft etc.... But that is all subjective at the moment.
