Trying To Get Our Field Back

    We used to fly at a very nice field on Mare Island (a former Navy shipyard). In October of last year the city hired a security company to kick everyone off of the North island. It seems that the city had had it with vandalism and dumping. We were not part of the problem, and we complied with their request. One of our guys has taken the lead in communicating with the city about getting a permit to go back and fly there. We are very close, but now it appears that the best approach is to start a formal AMA club. Wish us luck in getting this nice field back.

      I hope it all works out for you guys, and you are able to reclaim your field. An AMA charter will definitely help, and once you get exclusive rights to the field, maybe they will allow to can lock the gates and keep the vandals out. Good luck and keep us posted on the progress :)

      Yes I will ablige, you have my blessing... Also if you want us to write representing a concerned group of RC enthusiasts to your local municipality we can do that as well. We Just need all who want to participate to sign as members and we can address the issue collectively. There is strength in numbers..
