I say 380 is only 2 cm longer than 360.

You can get 450 frame for $60. Tarot makes good quality frames.
You can easily stretch 450 PRO to 360mm blades using Align parts from 450L or clone parts cheap as dirt on eBay.
Goblin 380 is $395.
For $200 you get clone 700 +$30 Align stretch kit, some Align parts and blades - you have reliable 800.

Goblin 380 is 1.4kg heavy with 1kW motor and lipo. Not good.

Well good points utrinque but the dry weight of goblin 380 felt pretty light for that size. Nearly as light as my protos. I know you can get really good performance for dollar. You have shown that with your assault. But when i saw the 380 move it was really fast for a small machine... did you see this one?

Now looking at the build, but not yet confirmed i think we could get HUGE power with low weight.... the 380 only weighs about 1kg no packs.. But i think it could swing bigger than 38o blades. even so 1kg dry is not far off mini protos at 360mm and that heli really moves well. most 450 swing 325mm so a 380 is a big difference. the 380 is closer to a 500 than 450.
Align 500 with 6s is 1.9kg. from my calculation this goblin with two nanotec 1300mah (225g each) would be 1.5kg allowing an extra 100g for motor. So a 12s at 1.5kg is a super light machine with insane power. Can the goblin handle it? I dont know for sure. I dont think there is a 12s motor that will fit it yet. But I know the batteries fit and the video above looks incredible. What do you think? I know you like to be clever with cheaper builds which is good for everyone of course.

My friend Emil is great pilot. He is much better than me. He has Align 700 DFC, and few 450s. He is able to perform piro tic-tocs with all of them.

I was surprised to see how his old T-Rex ESP on 6S performs. He can do piro tic-tocs with it too!

Not always more power and higher RPM make you 3D Master. Penalty is 2-3 minutes flights.

 

I can see your point of view as well... I think what you have done with assault helis is amazing - i watched all your videos...

 

The 380 drive train is a lot stronger and I think will handle 12s where most other 450

LOLz... yes @3dmick, I am watching..... watching and looking around to see if its possible to create a 12S 380.... Even at 10S and a protos 500 motor the goblin 380 is crazy.... now at 12S we are entering the twilight zone! A place where you dont know what is fantasy and what is reality!!!. If it can handle the power AND be reliable..... reliable then I am going to be really impressed.. @Beaver if it comes to fruition, I promise i will let you know first hand!

Well I went looking and I couldn't find a motor in this size that is less than 890kv

So 120 main, 19T pinion, 10P 890KV... castle software says 4000RPM is 71%

That is as low as it will allow, a power jive on the other hand can go lower, but that's a 600buck speedie?

I have some 4S 1000s I bought for a different project I could try 8S, but seems that's been done?

 

Looks like we need to call my buddy fusion8 in AZ and ask him to wind us a custom 32mm motor!

 

I think that this could become a reality with the new 420... Now i just inserted two nanotech 1300mah 6s packs into my 380.... and it fits. That would allow for insane CHEAP power... With that power however i dont know how the micro servos will hold. using the BK servos, IMO things are kind of at the limit torque wise at the moment...

I saw Duncan destroy mins chase at wagga! Min just finished telling me how good the cheap servos were and he gave Duncan a flight and Duncan litterally destroyed the heli in about 60seconds! Duncans tick tocks were incredibly quick. Good old min! gotta love the guy!

 

Apparently the motor wiring was a bit loose inside the motor.. And the wire touched the outside and sorted... Min has some videos on YouTube I believe
