Florida has passed a law which restricts flying aircraft from taking pictures of anyone else s property/person apart from your own then you can be subject to civil prosecution.

How will this affect pilots around the world? Only time will tell. How do you think this might affect you? What about the implications for mobile phone cameras - the media. Why should it apply only to rc aircraft?

Okay, these rules are actually pretty good, rational, and not as bad as they seem.

All the important bits are in section 3(b).

If one reads carefully, this is saying that, if someone can be viewed in public at ground level, and your not deliberately targeting someone, these laws do not really apply.

Here is the important bit, its more that these rules are against the intent of conducting surveillance of someone or their property.

It just boils down to, dont use drones for being a peeping tom.

The rules also protect you from having the police be a peeping tom on you.

I dont think this is anything to do with a hobbyist, or the average man, I think these laws are purely aimed at deterring peeping toms from using drones.

Would you jump into someones backyard, pull out your mobile phone and start filming a private family occasion? Here is the problem, a drone allows a person to conduct such an action without them realising it.
