Regulations for the event that must be adhered to:
    - STRICT height limit of 400ft above ground level MUST be adhered to. That means no huge autos.
    - MAAA membership must be shown at entry on the day. Cannot fly without current membership.
    - This is strictly a heli only event (no planks and no multis/drones - sorry!)
    - Members of the public are unfortunately not welcome as this would deem the event a public display.
    - No alcohol to be consumed on site or before flying any models.

Location: The club is located on Ash Island and is relatively easy to find. Here is a google map pin drop: https://goo.gl/maps/ppofJhkWAjr

    Safety:
    - The entry is to the island is over a small bridge directly across the road from Hexham McDonalds and has safe turning lanes from either direction.
    - When exiting the island you will be turning onto an 80km/h part of the Pacific Highway. Turning left is safe and easy but turning right requires you to cross busy double lanes and requires patience waiting for a gap in traffic. Highly recommended to simply turn left and there is a set of lights a couple of hundred meters down the road that you can then turn off at to turn around. This takes an extra few minutes but please do so to remain safe [IMG]

Parking: There is parking on site at the club but this will fill up quickly. Once this is full please instead park either side of the road at the entry gate to the club. This road is fairly quiet but please watch out for the odd car.

National Park: Rebel Flying Club is located in a National Park so there is strictly NO littering, NO smoking and NO dogs allowed. Bins will be provided for your rubbish so please use them.

Registration: Rego is available on the day or you can pre-register here --> https://rebelfunfly2017.eventsmart.com/events/9-2/

Hiring a sound system is probably the way to go. We normally hire when running funflys and competitions.

Admission is being finalised and will be announced along with pre-registration within the next few days! Will be at least 3 flight lines, possibly 4. At minimum there will be one on the eastern side of our shelter in that pic, then 2 along the longer southern face. Considering a third up the western end.

First of the prizes will also be announced in the coming days as well ;)

Gday all! With the Fun Fly just over a week away I thought I'd provide some details on the club location and safety when arriving.

Location: The club is located on Ash Island and is relatively easy to find. Here is a google map pin drop: https://goo.gl/maps/ppofJhkWAjr

      Safety:

Looking forward to an awesome event!!! [IMG][IMG][IMG]

Well the Fun Fly for 2017 was a great success! Plenty of great helis on show, the mini comps went down a treat and we even got some crashes on film. Thanks so much to all the pilots who made the trip, especially Mick from Mad4Helis who flew down from Mackay! Also thanks to the Rebels guys for the help over the weekend so I could even fit in a few flights [IMG] The weather was ominous all weekend but we got extremely lucky and only had to endure some light 10 min showers before the action returned.

Here's some pics... First up we have the first minicomp winner Mark Boyle who won a MicroBeastX FBL Unit and Soko Heli Tool thanks to RC Crew Hobbies! Mark is a formidable opponent in streamer cut contests - in Melbourne he placed 2nd while on Saturday he managed to win with a time of just 3.41s. Mad Mike came in second place with a very close time of 3.75s while Troy Scully managed 4.13s. So a very close contest all round!

The 2nd mini comp was a bottle knock comp. Some great knockout competition was had with pilots risking their pride and glory in an attempt to knock a water bottle off a traffic cone. We had some close calls with Brett Woodcock slicing the bottle in half with his 550E, creating a spectacular shower of water! (Will upload video later) Unfortunately in the very next round we lost a Goblin 700 after it cleanly cut the traffic cone in half, and the remaining pilots decided that enough damage had been done to award the pilot with the prize of 695mm Cyclone Mains + Tails thanks to Mad4Heli! Here are the remains of said Goblin (and the cone):

Finally the Pilot's Draw drew huge excitement with a Goblin 380 Kit + Xnova Tareq Ed. Motor up for grabs! With great sportmanship shown we had a laugh and drew the winner from the remainder of the Bottle Knock traffic cone. Our lucky winner was Troy Scully! That heli is sure to live a very hard life in his hands. Big thank you to Zen RC for the Goblin 380 + Tareq Motor and Mad4Heli for the Goblin 380[IMG] Fantastic contribution. Here's Troy receiving his heli from Mad Mike:

There were some really nice pics of the event taken by local Rebel Glen Somerville so I will leave it to him to upload his handy work. Thanks again to our pilots and sponsors! We are planning on making this an annual event - next year we will be aiming for mid May (around the time Coffs Helifest used to be) so that we don't clash with Wagga Heli Heatwave again. Look forward to seeing you all there!

Also Ari - I think you got Mike's Goblin 770 crash on video? Feel free to link videos here!
