Well I thought as our hobby is more in demand for bigger chargers. More and more people are building there own charging stations. So I thought I would be the first to post one up. Here is mine I built a little time ago. Main aim I had in mind was to minimise wires to keep it tidy.

      I'm wondering...

Would it be better to have a super nice purpose build sexified case, with a fair bit of wasted space, or would it be better to use the case as a storage case, have your psu and charger in there, but also have tools, starter, laptop, and other stuff???

At 1am on a Saturday night/Sunday morning you're wondering about charger setups. Shouldn't you be out partying and trying to pick up some strange??

PS. Don't mind what I'm doing up at this time of the day looking at...... cough, cough, 'heli fourms'..... ;)

Seriously though, if you try and jam too much gear into one case without properly securing everything you might find that things get damaged. You don't need an uber big case for a charger setup, just enough to get the job done. I have a charging box which also holds a few batteries, a TX case and tool box.

I did see a large case at Jaycar the other day that had wheels and a retractable handle built in, but for the reasons I've mentioned above I passed on purchasing it. It is cool though. ABS Instrument Rolling Case

You can achieve both, but it gets cramped, gets mighty heavy & you have to be careful of airflow & cooling. The cooling is the critical part & the reason why most setups are power supply & chargers only.

Really nice setup @Radar I like the USB chargers and the light at the top for night stuff, very cool. Nice perspex too. I'm about to embark on building one myself. If it comes out 1/2 as good as yours I'd be pleased with myself. Cheers

Some of the charging cases on here are works of art. I normally just use my case as a carry box and put everything on the bench which is ok if you have a good bench but not so good if the benches are wet.

Yep, you're right. Bloody Radar built a cracker didn't he. There's been quite a few very flash cases on other forums, but they're all starting to look the same.
I'm building something different with some new ideas incorporated. Stay tuned dudelets.....

I was inspired by Radar's charging setup and when I scored some old server PSU from work I thought I'd have a go. I'm going to cover the top with black Perspex and add some cooling fans...one day...maybe. image.jpg
