Has anyone brought or used the Devil 380 clone? If you have what is it like?

I would like a goblin but the price is out of my reach (sort of like wanting a Ferrari I suppose). Maybe the devil 380 is good? Is it an exact copy? Anyone going to buy one?

Something I'm totally annoyed about the hobbywing pp v4 esc is that it kicks out the tail on startup. I'm currently on linear throttle and when it starts up it does the soft start routine for a few secs and then just ramps up the speed. This causes the tail to step out by maybe 45degs before the gyro takes control.

      What FBL? That's weird.
I know with the Kbar I'm using, I have full control of tail during spool up. As long as the tail pitch is neutral before spool up, it pretty much stays there.

I'm sure it's not the gyro's fault coz the speed ramp is just too sudden for it to react fast enough. I'll have to try out gov store on the pp v4 to see if it's any different. I've never seen this problem with all the other escs I've used, even the yep 40 on my 450pro.

So the ESC just has a weird soft-start curve?

Yea thats what I see at the moment but I'd need to test out the other gov modes to be sure is a norm with this esc. It's actually stated in the manual that startup time (soft start) only applies to gov modes, which is strange to me really.

Most ESC have both soft start normal and soft start gov. mode. That's just so weird yours don't. I might have to read up on that one just to satisfy my curiosity.

It will only work in gov/elf or gov/store modes. Startup time should probably be set to max (24 seconds?)
What do you use to program ESC?

Well it's contradicting really, if u look in the manual under flight modes, second line 1.2 it's mentioned in linear mode, acceleration will correspond to the preset startup time 4-25secs. Dunno whats that about but something's not right.
At the moment for v4 esc programming only done with the lcd programming module.

Start up time is at the default 15secs, I've tried and there's only soft start in governor modes.

No I've not tried 8secs... but anything magical about 8secs?

Edit: ok tried 8 secs and everything in the range, no change nothing different. Linear means linear in v4, increasing the throttle slowly n in a linear fashion. As an example u start increasing throttle slowly n switch to a 70% tc, it'll do a 4sec slow start n directly jump to the requested tc.

Believe it or not "The dude" I made the mistake of buying the 380 devil and your right. I found myself using aftermarket parts from a 380 Goblin
BECAUSE some of the parts on a 380 devil were just too cheaply made or at least I thinkso. Alot of guys swear by the 380 devil and post their videos I however don't know. I seriously think they were the lucky ones who well got lucky and got all good parts. I am not bashing the Alzrc 380 because I own a few of their helicopters such as the 480. I am not giving up on 380 just yet .
SO far mine went together without a hitch. Everything fitted together nice no problems , No slop in the tail or the
Push /Pull rods, swashplate plate is in nice. Like I said "The dude " No problems yet but I didn't even fly it yet.

Yes @thedude is 100%right. However there is nothing wrong buying the devil380 it if its your first heli - from a price perspective its still good value. If you are not smaking the hell out of it and you manage to have no assembly issues it can be a good first purchase and teach you quite a bit. If you are unlucky and parts dont fit or you overtighten something - then its bad luck i suppose. Usually beginners will crash usually before any parts give and usually their flying is not advanced enough to feel the difference between a cheaper or high class components.

There is a reason why experienced (>2 years) normally buy brand name kits. You know what you are getting and most crashes are due to mechanical failure at this level. So a cheaper build will have a higher probability of failure and hence end up costing an experienced pilot more - because he also uses top quality electronics as well.

I usually just fly my goblin 380 these days. and i have put many many flights through the thing. It just keeps flying pack after pack after pack of reasonably hard smak. So i can testify to the 380 as being one of the best designed helis in its class. it flies very well - it feels really solid and fast in the air.
