Yes, I found a deal on an Assault 100-v2, with brushless main and tail motors. It's supposed to be comparable to a Blade MCPx, but I haven't looked in depth enough to determine if it is a "clone", but I do know it is a re-branded HiSky HCP100S (who ever they are).
It's complete with some spares: a pack or two- 2S/450mAh, blades, etc.
Included is a JR module that will snap directly into the back of my TH-9X radio (after I install a switch to disable the internal DSM2 module I installed).
    So It doesn't seem a bad deal for $40+shipping. Transaction pending. Photo Dec 05, 6 58 07 PM.jpg

Once the bird is in hand, I'll give it a good inspection and setup, Tx programming and all...... some flight time, and a report. Given the power system and some of the reviews I've read, it should do well, hopefully better than the Nano CPx. Better to bash a resilient micro learning new things than to damage my beloved Protos, that up to now, has experienced no unfortunate mishaps. :D

Do you have an MCPX BL? I have one here that i dont use much now - i sold my spectrum so i cant hook it up to my futaba (doh!). It needs another servo but other than that its fully kitted with lynx upgrades, unbreakable canopies. It was my main micro flyer....

Sure no problem! Its just laying around here... not being able to fly. I think its depressed and in need of an active home.

Even more intriguing is the fact that they appear to use similar LiPo packs. I'll definitely get back to you about that in a few weeks. :D

And then, @smakmeharder, as I was ordering the A100, I realized why I was hesitant to jump on that MCPx..... overseas shipping this time of year is a nightmare. It was this time last year I was in wait for the CopterX 450SE kit to ship from Asia, mouth watering for 4 weeks.....

It looks like it uses the same servos as the mcpx?

Yes, it looks very similar. I will be doing some cross-referencing to that effect once I get the bird inspected and so forth.

Yikes!! This little bird will need some tuning! It's airborne, but feels like a Nano CPx on steroids....... Plenty of power at the collective from that cute little 2S outrunner motor.
I run a basic setup at the TX for sake of testing, but the program is far from perfected yet.
Initial impression says it was definitely $40 well spent.

This hyperactive little bird is going to force me to write a specific Tx profile as opposed to simply copying a preset and modding the channel assignments. This is all well and good, as I need the exercise in fully programming my Tx.

.....then there is the DSM2 option that I have yet to explore...... I wonder if the channel assignments will be the same?

Does it feel "solid" without stick input?

It's a bit twitchy finding cyclic "center" at first, but once equilibrium is established, it flies reasonably solid even for being not tuned-in yet. I was able to run two packs worth of flights on the initial settings..... even with a few "seat-of-the-pants" collision avoidance maneuvers. Tail lock was fairly solid. :D
