yeah.. go talk to someone who knows what they are doing.. hahah...

first thing.. get something that carbon.. not G10...

so like heli's the problem is, that unless you get nice stuff, it probably wont fly as well...

there are lots of pro's and cons on X frame vs H Frame... at the moment I would not even worry about it...

for the git go, if you want to build something, I would go a simple well known frame, thats going to be easy to build... so with this I would look at something like the ZMR 250, or something that is what called a basic build....

now for motor and esc, you need to look at something that is a known matching pair..
      http://buzzhobbies.com.au/index.php?route=product/product&path=60_69&product_id=860

get a matching Power Distribution board.. trust me, you want this.. will make everthing easier.

for a cheap FC get the naze32..
some people like to have on screen displays... if so, get a pdb, which allows intergration of it.. if you want an OSD go something like minimum OSD..
for the VTX you are only legally allowed to use 25mw transmitter... I would also get a camera you can tilt, as you get better, you will want the angle...

so for a first off.. and something that can take a beating. Get a ZMR... I have wacked that thing like you wouldnt believe, and I haven't broken a frame.

so a basic start look at something like the following..
      ZMR250 - http://buzzhobbies.com.au/index.php?route=product/product&path=60_64_120&product_id=501
      Motor/esc/props- http://buzzhobbies.com.au/index.php?route=product/product&path=60_69&product_id=860
      VTX - anything 5.8ghz 25mw
      Antenna - http://buzzhobbies.com.au/index.php?route=product/product&path=73_123&product_id=905
      SMA Extender - http://buzzhobbies.com.au/index.php?route=product/product&path=73_123&product_id=391
      FPV Camera - http://buzzhobbies.com.au/index.php?route=product/product&path=73_124&product_id=597
      PDB - http://buzzhobbies.com.au/index.php?route=product/product&path=60_126&product_id=792
CC3d - http://buzzhobbies.com.au/index.php?route=product/product&path=60_68&product_id=590 (as you will use SBUS natively)
BEC - as non of the ESC's have one - http://buzzhobbies.com.au/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=695&search=bec

That should about do it you just need some goggle/ground station...

happy for someone more experienced with this stuff to dive in.. but trying to keep it simple...

      hope thats a starting point...

Thats good info there @Manyc. The reason for the matching pair motors i suppose is similar RPM? That way the drone will track straight? is this something that can be calibrated in the distribution board? Sorry about all the noob questions..

It's more to do with motor and esc combination... You do want the same motor.. And tracking is more fc than anything else...

There has been cases with the esc where the firmware (either blheli or simonk) doesn't play nice with a motor... This is generally not an issue anymore but for a new starter getting a known working combination make life easier....

The main thing for esc is one shot capability and 4s.. Motor something around 2204 or 2206 4s and around 2100-2300kv...

Then there is the goggles and ground station.. Just get goggles for now.. Borrow a few different ones from people to see what you like...

A few of us have fatshark at the club. I'm also looking at some head plays... @BladeBandit has some others with built in diversity...

Them if you get mad into it.. You will want a ground station.. And that's another story...

You can get multiple bigger anntena with diversity setup which means it will switch between the better signal.. So yes you end up with better video in the sense that you get less break up

I'll be at the club today I'll bring my stuff for you to have a look at
