Well I purchased the DFC link arms and swash for my gobby 380 just last week. It will be interesting to see how the new swash and direct links compare to the old system. I am tipping its going to be a worthy change for a two bladed setup.

The installation was not too painful, though it turned out to be more than what i expected.

To install, remove the head and change the ball links on the servo arms to the new ball links provided.

Remove the motor! Unfortunately this is required to access the screws on the swash guide plate.

Clip on the new linkages provided onto the servo horns. Probably best to make sure they linkages are all the same length, as they are adjustable.

Put on the new swash and linkage it to the servo arms. Note the ball links are pretty tight but fit well.

Put on the swash guide plate and re-attach the motor.

Take out the feather shaft and replace the blade grip arms with the new DFC blade grip arms. Don't forget the loctite. - reassemble and remove the old non-dfc linkages.

Attach the old ball link linkages to the new DFC links attached to the new blade grips.

Re assemble the head onto the shaft and then go through the normal setup procedure, except now you have the ability to also adjust the length of the swash to servo linkages. I will report back how effective the upgrade is.

would be interesting to see.. most models have gone away from DFC due to the forces on a single bolt... but with a smaller model should be interesting...

      looking forward to your thoughts...

I'm just assuming, the DFC was born and bred from the High HS smack era, because of this people who likes low HS are out of the loop or looking at it from a sellers point of view the lacking of customers to please. Also apparently Bert likes em tight. Funny enough the head block triple locking system came next to accommodate the DFC. The DFC is not for everyone, but at least we got choices.

the original DFC by SAB was prone to boom strikes, which is why they made up the HPS 2 head...

Reporting back on the Lynx swash and ultra dfc rod/hybrid arm set. To start with i was not that impressed. Whenever i would punch forward or roll the helicopter would seem to start jittering. It did not matter what i did with the gains but one thing was for sure - it did not exhibit this problem before the mod. I started playing around with manythings to no avail. Then it dawned on me - perhaps the heli was moving faster than i anticipated? I had my roll rates set at 300 deg per sec and when rolling it appeared to be accelearting towards that rate very quickly. So i guessed that perhaps the gyro was trying to hold the heli at 300 deg/per second. Yep i was right. I turned the roll rate up to 400 deg/per second and all jitters went away. The heli could hold this flip and roll rate without issues. I then turned down the cyclic throw a bit and dropped the roll rate to 380. PERFECT! Now piroflips were locked in, the heli was fast and still felt really nice and solid after any positioning. Yes i am a happy chappy! It smaks so well now...really it does. Im not sure what else i could ask for in a heli.

Just got back after some morning glory with the G380. Starting to feel the love more now. The heli accelerates to speed faster, is more responsive on pumps, still handles a piroflip very smoothly and is a little bit scarier to fly! IE the whole experience seems to be faster. So yes i am liking the modification at the moment. Feeling the love so to speak.

Oh boy.... what a sad way to end the day. Got to audacious, feeling a bit crook with a sore throat and BOOM.... into the deck. The good news is the sacrificial head link BROKE without destroying ANY SERVOS!!! first time that has happened. Sofar feathershaft a nd blades... What a stupid crash.... oh well at least it was me to blame. Once again when a heli event is on the horizon my heli goes in! Dam you @Crash Heligod !

Just one of those things i guess. I can fly months and nothing. But this was a genuine pilot error which means i need more sim time. i can still see the crash... inverted positioned at 2.00 visually, 4 meters above the deck, helicopter at 45deg and performing a roll while punching the collective. Because i am trying to introduce rolls from anywhere, i punched the collective in the wrong direction. Normally one can correct... but i didnt. I just stared in disbelief, like bambi staring into the headlights of a Mack truck at 2.am in the morning on the hume highway. And the thud was a similar sound no doubt. Head down in disbelief i meandered over the swamp terain and picked up the carcass of my once beloved goblin. You know, im not going to say "its not that bad". Thats what we all say to ourselves after a crash. It was bad... its always bad! I could hear @Crash Heligod laughing in the background... thats crash 2! one at newyears eve, now this one. One to go i guess. It allways happens in three.

It must've been a pretty sweet crash to have bent the beefy spindle! Did the boom bolts break off as designed? Have heard that some were too tough and damaged the boom in crashes.

The boom bolt broke clean. A small crack in the bottom of the boom but the top rail is fine so i will glass up the crack and it will be fine to use i am sure. So the damage bill so far is blades and spindle shaft. Spindles will bend @ 4k and it went in under full power, Both blades turned into tv antenas. Rebuilding the 380 is usually a pleasure @gonehelimad. Its pretty simple and not many bolts.

WTH!! aren't you pushing it a little running 4k rpm on the 380?? I thought 3.5k was already borderline insanity. You definetely got off easy with just spindle n blades. When I dirt napped my G500 recently it was skids, main gear, tail belt, tail pushrod, servo n swash links n blades and this was going in sideways. Again the boom survived with some minor paint chips thanks to the plastic boom bolts, gotta love these right? BTW got any pics of the crash results, would love to share some grief :D

goblin 380 will do 4k all day.... and then some. make sure you have good blades and quick reflexes. Its an adrenalin pumping hellraising maniac that will allways put a smile on your face...unless you crash.
