Yikes! The Chicken Dance! I think @Crash Heligod considers that more recreation and less "crashwürk".
      ;)

Nothing like an old fashioned nitro for an old fashioned chicken dance.

      Oh the pain

The heli seemed quite happy just to self destruct. I imagine the motor would be toast? I have never flown a nitro yet...

I suspect the motor survived, but I bet the clutch and all else is fried.

@BeLoWseaLeVeL had a small crash with a petrol motor (not nitro). The motor was fried after a simple crash - the conrod broke. I wonder if the nitro motors are more robust.

Why is that though? I allways thought that petrol or nitro were pretty much the same? Is it valves and stuff?

Petrol and nitro engines are the same in configuration, the differences are in setup for fuel type where the compression ratio is specific to fuel type. Petrol engines have spark ignition systems, and nitro engines operate similar to diesel engines where the glow plug and raw compression ignite the fuel. Nitro engines are generally smaller scale and therefore have less rotating and reciprocal mass among the moving parts, which lends them to being capable of running at much higher rpm compared to their petrol burning cousins.... especially 4-stroke versions, which are limited in rpm by mechanical valve train constraints (valve float). 2-stroke engines of nitro and petrol fuel have higher power to weight ratios than 4-strokes, and nitro engines generally have higher power to weight ratios than petrol engines due to higher compression and fuel combustion along with lack of external ignition systems (built in weight reduction)......which is why nitro is usually the preferred fuel mode for model aircraft.

Next time i want to build a dragster I know who I am going to ask for advice....where were you 20 years ago when i was trying to get into the 11 second bracket with my 351 ford falcon...Got to 12.9 on the quarter with some pretty extensive mods and I was about to supercharge but got married instead. I should have superchared as i think the piston rings would have lasted longer than my wedding ring!

Falcon?? .... as in XB type.... similar to the Mad Max car? I'm assuming it was a 351 Windsor engine.

Yes you are right! I wish i never sold it... I put so much love and money into that thing..

From memory the engine mods were - boss heads, roller rockers, cut exhaust ports to provide better flow out the pipes, .671 inch lift - cant remember other specs - cam, singleplane edelbrock high rise manifold, TDR 11.5 to 1 compression popup pistons, balanced, blueprinted, Twin point dizzy, high compression valve springs (cant remember the poundage) - shaker (air scoop for carb) - chrome molly rings, 750 double pumper .. All the specs are a bit hazy now but that car used to sing.... yes it was big (for AU car) but it did not feel big - as soon as you put the foot down it went. Very responsive.
