....test run of a used OMC (G.M.) 5.7l v-8 I bought last year for $150 (USD). Kicking the moth-balls out of it and prepping for sale.

It's going in a boat that originally has a 5.0l in it. I'll make $500 on the engine block alone. Will part out the rest.

Right, those kind of boats typically good for around 80kph or so.

Nope. Gig cancelled. We have freezing rain... ice on everything, it's nasty out there. So I'm limited to flying the Nano indoors, bumbling around in the garage. :p

Is the cobra block a 4.3 liter? How many ponies does this thing create? Nice skills by the way...

In both cases, same GM Marine/Industrial grade 4.3 v6 rated 175 to 205HP depending on what carburetor and intake manifold is used. The change-over is simply a matter of removing both engines and transplanting all the external Mercury accessories to the OMC block..... then installing entire engine assembly into the boat. Then there is only test running and setting timing and idle settings, and its done.
This particular job was installing a good engine from a boat with rotten wood supports to a newer boat with a freeze-cracked block due to improper winterization. (someone didn't drain the water out and it froze and cracked the block beyond repair)

Actually, my guitarist got me started with a micro-chinook he had, but he didn't take to helis like I did. He's more of a gamer.

All said and done, pulling two engines, change-over, and putting one back, about 10 hours....
      It's just what I do for my day-job. ;)

I think they are for over pressurizing due to heat, not freezing

      On a
The plugs are to relieve pressure in both cases, but an engine block full of straight water will push out the plugs and still crack the block if frozen hard enough.

You must be an expert at loosening tight bolts or stripped threads? Broken or siezed bolts? Thats a fast turn around for a motor changeover. Impressive @Beaver.
