Idiots causing issues for responsible pilots include IMO a Gold Coast hobby shop. They informed me the other day they sold a number of Phantoms to a business that are to be given free with each purchase of there product (I wont name them or the product) The owner of this large business made the assumption these are toys & flew one into his face requiring 7 or more stitches.
I think it was irresponsible retailing for a $. I hope that all involved now have a better understanding of the dangers involved.
It's completely different to have an interest in your chosen hobby than to be just given a machine without the research & building a knowledge base.

I think there are going to be many more stories in the future about the irresponsible actions from people who have easy access to these machines.

So did this business continue the "deal"? It only takes one of these hitting a child, then a report goes to the press and then a negative public perception is embraced by the masses. Even as it is, people think that drones are looking in through their windows from 100M up in the air and there is quite a bit of hysteria caused by exaggeration. Also the fact that drones can be very dangerous as the owner of the business found out.

You know years ago people who were Interested in aviation went to the trouble of building in their chosen field and enjoy flying what they just spent 1 to 8 weeks putting together . Now what I hate is the people that come along who wouldn't know or care how or why things fly, getting their hands on these "cool toys" .Because there built and require no skill to fly. These people have no interest in aviation and ruin what we have fought so long to keep . Insurance low and our fields. Rant over :)
